Our New Dimensions program in business intelligence education has come to a successful close. The students completed a total of six modules in programming and data analysis, along with several supplementary modules in essential soft skills and employability for professionals in the data industry. We’re proud to highlight the achievements of our successful students throughout the program: several have secured employment at national and international institutions, and others have continued their academic journeys abroad. However, all of them deserve a round of applause. Congratulations, New Dimensions graduates!
We held two graduation ceremonies, one in Guayaquil and another in Quito. Representatives from the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Ecuador attended, as well as pianist Juan Carlos Pacheco. Fifty-five students from disadvantaged backgrounds received a diploma for their participation in the program. Among them, Ana Taipe, a mathematician from the National Polytechnic School, and Jhanelly Chalá, an economist from UNEMI, were recognized as the top graduates.
Additionally, Nathaniel Taylor-Leach, DataCamp’s social impact leader, attended the Quito graduation, commending the students’ achievements, particularly those who led the DataCamp platform: Rocío González, Stephany Pachay, and Anshela Castillo. Altogether, our group accumulated 7.2 million experience points and completed 2,217 courses on DataCamp. Excellent!
New Dimensions Job Placements
Several of our students have successfully entered the job market, so we want to highlight a few success stories here. In the financial sector, Ana Taipe secured a position at Produbanco, one of Ecuador’s three largest banks. Érika Martínez was hired as a Trainee Business Intelligence at Banco Pichincha, the largest bank in Ecuador. Erika emphasizes the importance of the skills New Dimensions provided, especially the workshops on job interview techniques and résumé writing, in helping her land this position. Additionally, Katherine del Valle secured a position as a software consultant at Global Hitss, while Erika Neira initially worked as an independent data analyst and later at Cardón S.A.
Our students’ success extends beyond the private sector and into academia. Jenniffer Chuzán was admitted with funding to a master’s program at the National Taiwan University of Technology, which she is currently pursuing. Meanwhile, Verónica Tapia secured a scholarship allowing her to study a master’s in business analytics at Fordham University (USA). Our students are also developing significant research projects at renowned universities: Johanna Vinueza will be undertaking a research assistantship at Jaume I University (Spain). In addition, both Jhanelly Chalá and Lissette Pita have secured research assistant positions at the State University of Milagro and ESPOL, respectively.
These are just a few examples of our successful students, with many more graduates proving what New Dimensions can accomplish. One of our students, Tamia Gualán, an Indigenous woman from the Kichwa Saraguro community and a participant in WARMI STEM, states, “The opportunity to be part of New Dimensions has positively contributed to my personal, academic, and professional growth.”
We strongly believe that these results are evidence that all our students will succeed in their professional and academic paths. On behalf of the Ecuadorian Research and Development Laboratory, as well as the New Dimensions instructors and teaching assistants, we offer our most sincere and energetic congratulations to our graduates: congratulations, great things are coming!
