With four months of intensive study completed, students in the New Dimensions program have reached the halfway milestone of their journey. This business intelligence training initiative is led by the Ecuadorian Development Research Lab (LIDE) and funded by the U.S. Embassy in Ecuador. The program aims to foster women’s participation in STEM and close persistent gender gaps by equipping women from disadvantaged backgrounds with high-quality professional training.
During this second phase of the program, students were mentored by Ángel Bravo, who guided them through a module divided into two core areas: data engineering with SQL and business analysis with Power BI. Ángel expressed deep gratitude and pride in the students’ growth, highlighting their strong final projects and recognizing their potential to thrive as future data engineers and analysts. He encouraged them to remain motivated and committed as they continue into the upcoming modules.
New Dimensions spans nine months and covers six core technical modules: Excel, Power BI, SQL, R, Statistics, and Python. Beyond technical instruction, the program also emphasizes professional development. Participants take part in workshops focused on empowerment, employability, and soft skills, where they learn how to write compelling résumés, prepare for job interviews, and communicate effectively.
Thanks to a partnership with DataCamp Donates, students receive full access to the DataCamp online platform, allowing them to strengthen their programming and data analysis skills through hands-on practice. Additionally, training from the global HR firm Adecco offers students further opportunities to enter the job market and be considered in Adecco’s recruitment pipelines.
LIDE warmly congratulates the New Dimensions students on this important milestone and encourages them to continue making the most of the resources and opportunities the program provides.
