Summary:
Our Quantificador Scholarships promote data literacy in low-income post-secondary students. These scholarships are funded thanks to an agreement reached between Laboratorio LIDE and US-based education company DataCamp. Each year, the program benefits 20-25 young students throughout the country which receive free DataCamp subscriptions as well as employability and data analysis workshops from Laboratorio LIDE.
Objective:
Provide learning opportunities in data science to disadvantaged post-secondary students that cannot afford quality education.

- Employed or underemployed low-income individuals.
- People with enough time availability and motivation to study independently.
Content:
In order to promote data literacy through free education, Laboratorio LIDE provides 15 annual DataCamp subscriptions to low-income post-secondary students interested in acquiring new skills.
DataCamp is an online learning platform which offers courses on data science and programming in languages such as R, Python and SQL. They provide free subscriptions to more than 100 qualified organisations around the world through the DataCamp Donates programme. Laboratorio LIDE is one of them.
The scholarships are distributed favoring female representation; thus, our first cohort of students is composed of 10 women and 5 men from different backgrounds. Our new cohorts have comprised 20-25 students each year.
